Arts & Culture

The Players Centre for Performing Arts is excited to announce, A Few of Our Favorite Things, a virtual goodbye to 90 Years in downtown Sarasota. The Players has been around since 1929, the same year the Iron Lung and the car radio were invented. That is 90 years of memories, friendships, and community arts education and entertainment. Such a historic and loving facility deserves a send-off like none other. This isn’t “goodbye,” it’s only “see you later.” They've decided to take A Few of Our Favorite Things, originally set to close their 91st Season, and use it as a virtual farewell to their home in downtown Sarasota. Have you performed on their stage? Were you a crew member backstage? Have you worked in the costume and/or scene shop? Ushered, designed, choreographed, or directed a show? Here’s how it works: Film yourself performing a song, dance, scene, monologue, you name it from one of your favorite Players memories. Do you simply want to tell us your favorite Players story? We want to hear it. All submissions must be between 1-3 minutes and filmed horizontally. Please make your background look presentable, make sure there’s light on your face and your surroundings are clean and not distracting. Submissions are due Sept. 1, 2020 to this Dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/request/3cj6heebdMQydJhiUMlq. This virtual farewell will air online Friday, Sept. 25 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $20 and available online.
