Amore Restaurant Takes Eating Local to the Next Level

While one door closes, another opens. And so it is with Sarasota’s Amore Restaurant, a long-established Italian restaurant with roots in both Longboat Key before relocating to Sarasota’s historical district where it operated successfully for 5 years. Until COVID-19 hit. Persevering, the Vitorino’s had a burning passion that runs through their Portuguese blood, and they found another venue for a new beginning as independent restaurateurs. This time around, they are adding a flair to their menu by offering traditional Portuguese dishes that are unique to Sarasota County. Amore reopens on December 28 and hopes to recapture their loyal customers from their former location and also attract new ones. "I thought this move would be a great opportunity to bring Amore to that next level and open up this restaurant to include some of the delicacies we’ve known when we grew up in Portugal,” says Tito Vitorino, who will be Amore’s chef. Amore’s menu will span a range of Italian classic dishes with local ingredients, such Linguini Pescatore, Bronzino, Veal Marsala, Ossobucco and more. The big hit, however, is expected to be the Cataplana: a savory Portuguese which is both the name of the dish and the copper pot that it is cooked in. The new restaurant has been completely renovated and includes tables and also booths equipped with glass panels separating diners for environmental safety. Outdoor seating is also available.
