The Sarasota Film Festival organizes great film contests for students every year, like Hollywood Nights, the Reeltalk PSA competition, or the Instafilm Contest. But Parallel Universes is different in that it concerns itself with a recent experience all of us lived through and is open to filmmakers both local and international. Paul Ratner, Managing Director, SFF said, “The inspiration for Parallel Universes came from the experience of the pandemic where we’ve all had to adjust our normal routines and live in some ways as if we were in a parallel universe. But we also wanted young filmmakers an opportunity to be creative and so decided to ask for stories that either reflect life under the pandemic or life in a sci-fi parallel universes. We think that this way we could get a really unique range of films and emotional responses.” Deadline to enter is April 1st.
