Elevating the Lunch Combo at Libby's

Good Bite

If the words “lunch combo” seem to lack a spark of inspiration, then the blame rests largely on the shoulders of fast-food chains. Those purveyors of cheap calories have in many ways ruined the concept of putting tidy portions of food together into a complete and satisfying meal. But at Libby’s Neighborhood Brasserie, their lunch combo combines some of the restaurant’s best sandwiches and soups with tasty sides.

Their Pick Two comes with a half sandwich and a choice of soup or salad, while the Pick Three gives the diner their choice of one of four sides. For those who need a meal that won’t bog them down for the afternoon behind a desk, the Pick Two offers plenty. A half meatball smash comes with Sunday sauce and mozzarella cheese atop Joe’s meatballs (as in Joe Seidensticker), with some arugula thrown in for color and a touch of pep. Served between a lightly toasted sesame seed hamburger bun, the sandwich pairs perfectly with the kale Caesar salad, especially the pickled onions atop the salad that complement the meatballs to a T. And like any good combo, the Pick Two is easy on the wallet, coming in under $9 before taxes. For heartier appetites, make it a Pick Three and add French fries or the zesty slaw.

Lunch combos are available weekdays until 4pm.
