Students Create Free Online Tutoring Amid Pandemic

The Giving Coast

Students in Palmetto High School’s Cambridge AICE program are positively navigating the pandemic and helping their peers along the way. The creators of PHS AICE Tutoring, who are mostly seniors, faced many challenges at the start of the 2020-2021 school year, including the potential loss of community service hours due to COVID-19. They realized the pandemic may also affect student learning because of changes in modalities. In response, the teens developed their own tutoring services and even wrote the computer code for the student sign-up portal. Tutors are available to anyone who attends Palmetto High School and needs help with homework or lessons in all subject areas, including ACT and SAT prep.
