Memorial Bench Offers Comfort to Colleagues of Beloved Educator

The Giving Coast

A new addition to the Professional Support Center (PSC) administrative building offers a place for colleagues and friends to remember Dr. Shirin Gibson. A cedar bench was recently unveiled during a dedication ceremony. Lourdes Gonzales, the District’s Director of Secondary Curriculum, created the bench. “My hope is to have an everlasting memory of how much Dr. Gibson affected our lives and how much we miss her,” Gonzales said. Etchings on the bench, including Dr. Gibson’s favorite quote, “Excellence, Nothing Less!” were done by Manatee Technical College students Anallely Olguin and Jacqueline Chavez.
