Diversity and Inclusion Celebrated at Embracing Our Differences Luncheon

After taking some time away due to the pandemic, Embracing Our Differences, the nonprofit group that uses the the power of the arts to honor diversity, gathered in person for its celebratory luncheon on Wednesday, March 23rd at Michael's on East.

Attendees heard from Board Chair Charles Williams, Gulf Coast Community Foundation's Matt Kahn and others. The keynote speakers were Sarasota High's Taiz Caminero, Booker High's Ashley Rosas Rios, and Venice High's Mya Fraser. The students shared their personal experiences and talked about how Embracing Our Differences has helped to make their schools a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone.

Embracing Our Differences currently has its annual arts showcase on display at Bayfront Park through April 10. Judge Williams acknowledged the beauty and importance of the Bayfront space: "This venue enhances our exhibition and publicly acknowledges our community message of tolerance and acceptance for all of our citizens."
