Women's Resource Center Presents: Careers in Trucking

Business

Although trucking has traditionally been a male-dominated industry, more and more women are choosing professional truck driving as a career. Between 2010 and 2019, the number of women truck drivers in the U.S. increased by 68 percent. Lucrative pay packages, travel opportunities, and autonomy on the job are just some of the reasons more women are embracing this career. Area residents can learn more about the trucking industry at the Women’s Resource Center’s free online session, "Careers in Trucking.” Speakers include Alix Miller, president and CEO of the Florida Trucking Association; Tra Williams, owner and president of Fleetforce Truck Driving School; and Annabelle Fernandez, a talent acquisition specialist for Argos, a local company that creates cement construction products and has driver positions available. The event is part of the Women’s Resource Center’s Career Connections program, which links women to quality jobs, educational opportunities, and funded training programs. The free session is November 9, at noon.
