A new trend has burst onto the scene in Sarasota. It’s called permanent jewelry and people of all ages have been lining up at Motel Therapy Boutique every Saturday to get “zapped”. Permanent jewelry is a new and fun experience and here’s how it works: When you walk into the store, you’ll see a sampling of silver and gold chains in different styles. Options include solid gold, gold-filled and sterling silver. Next to the chains sits a velvet tray with an array of charms like birth stones, angel numbers, initials and more. You can choose a bracelet, necklace, anklet, ring or a combination. The jeweler will walk you through the details to help you create your new forever piece. You can keep it simple and classic with just a chain or add charms and connectors for an elevated look. It’s also common to create a “stack” where you choose multiple chains for a layered look. Once you’ve made your selections, the chain is custom fit and welded on making it “permanent” and clasp-less. The welding process is super quick and painless. It’s commonly called getting “zapped” due to the quick zap of the welder.
