Gulf Coast Community Foundation Gifts Venice Theatre with $60,000 Arts Appreciation Grant

The Giving Coast

Venice Theatre's 2023-2024 season sponsor, Gulf Coast Community Foundation, recently awarded Venice Theatre a $60,000 Arts Appreciation Grant. This was in addition to a grant of $440,000 from Gulf Coast's Hurricane Ian Recovery Initiative. Venice Theatre's Director of Development Eric Watters says, "This $60,000 grant has helped the theatre continue its programing at a time when ticket revenue is less than half of what we would expect to generate if the Jervey Theatre were operational. It has been crucial to our survival." Venice Theatre's 432-seat Jervey Theatre is in the process of being restored after suffering severe damage from Hurricane Ian with plans to reopen in late 2024.
