USA BMX Pedals Into Punta Gorda for National Racing Event

Hundreds of professional and amateur BMX riders from across the country will descend on Punta Gorda this weekend, Jan. 12-14, for the USA BMX Citrus State Nationals, marking the second stop on the 2024 BMX national racing tour. The three-day event will be held at Charlotte BMX located at 2505 Carmalita Street in Punta Gorda. Races begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday, with participants racing well into the evening. Parking is $10 per day, and fans are welcome to watch and cheer on their favorite riders as they expertly navigate jumps, twists and turns along the track. The first race of the 2024 season was held just a week ago in nearby Sarasota. One of the riders participating in the Citrus State Nationals is 10-year-old Cody Young, who spends four or five days a week at Charlotte BMX. The young BMX rider has already racked up several world and national titles.
