Manatee Clerk Earns Distinguished Finance Award for the Fourth Consecutive Year

Business

The Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller has been named a Triple Crown winner by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the fourth consecutive year in a row for its outstanding financial reporting for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2022. Manatee County is one of only 17 counties out of 67 in Florida to receive this prestigious award. The Clerk's Office received the highest recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting due to earning the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the County's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award for its Popular Annual Report. This is the 44th consecutive year the Clerk's Office earned the ACFR award and the 25th consecutive year it earned the Popular Report award. The ACFR's 191 pages provide a detailed view into the financial position of the County and goes beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to give a "spirit of transparency and full disclosure," while the Popular Report, at 28 pages, provides a condensed and simplified report of the detailed information provided in the ACFR that is easily understandable to the general public and other interested parties without a background in public finance. The reports are evaluated by an impartial panel of public finance professionals from across the country, highlighting the exceptional quality and reliability of Manatee County's financial documentation. In addition, the Clerk's Office received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Port Authority's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the 30th consecutive year. These award-winning reports are available on the Clerk's website, www.ManateeClerk.com. There, visitors will also find the financial reports for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2023.
