Given the widespread destruction due to Hurricanes Helene and Milton, and understanding that recovery will likely take much time, Project Pride SRQ has made the difficult decision to cancel the Gulfcoast Pride Festival & Street Party on October 19, 2024. After reaching out to event supporters and vendors, and through communications with the City of Sarasota, it was clear that holding the event would be extremely difficult from a logistical standpoint. Project Pride SRQ has been buoyed by the outpouring of love and support it has received. In keeping with its organizational mission to return and amplify this love back to the extraordinary community it serves, the organization will continue to host other events, celebrations, and programs through the end of this year and beyond. "We look forward to bringing Gulfcoast Pride back – bigger, better and even more fun – at a later date, to be determined," said PPSRQ President Jason Champion. "We want the community to know that if there is anything we can do to help support them through this difficult experience, not to hesitate to reach out and let us know."
