Local and National Icons Inspire Packed House with Stories of Reinvention and Joyous Third Acts

The Giving Coast

Senior Friendship Centers (SFC) welcomed over 100 attendees to its sold-out Third Act Encore on January 16, 2025. The evening drew inspiration from the anthology Third Act Encore, which highlights older adults embodying the power of reinvention. The event featured local and national personalities who reinvented their lives in their later years. The event also addressed the growing challenge of finding purpose in later years. According to the National Council on Aging, over 10,000 suicides among individuals aged 65 and older were linked to “invisible disabilities” such as depression and feelings of abandonment. Senior Friendship Centers aims to combat these challenges by fostering connections through forward-thinking community programs.
