Manatee Education Foundation Celebrates the Retirement of Longtime President Mary Glass

The Giving Coast

After an extraordinary 18-year presidency, Mary Glass has announced her retirement from the Manatee Education Foundation (MEF). A University of South Florida graduate and Lakewood Ranch resident for 30 years, Mary’s visionary leadership has left an indelible mark on the educational landscape of Manatee County. Throughout her tenure, Mary guided the Foundation in nurturing meaningful public–private partnerships that have enriched educators, students, and classrooms across Manatee County (mefinfo.org). Under her steadfast leadership, MEF has become a cornerstone in advancing educational innovation, offering grants, recognition programs, and engagement initiatives that extend beyond what state funding alone can support. To honor her remarkable service, the Manatee Education Foundation is proud to announce the creation of the Mary Glass Civic Leadership Scholarship. This annual scholarship will support young leaders in Manatee County who aspire to careers in public service, education, or nonprofit leadership—reflecting Mary’s lifelong commitment to civic engagement and educational excellence.
