For many Sarasota residents, Detwiler’s Farm Market is more than just a grocery store: it’s a community staple. Family-owned and operated since its humble beginnings in a small roadside tent, Detwiler’s has grown into a well-loved local chain with six stores across the region. Known for its motto, “Eat Fresh for Less,” the market has earned a loyal following by offering an abundant selection of fresh produce alongside a seafood market, butcher shop, deli and bakery. Customers also flock to Detwiler’s for specialty items such as cheeses, butter, milk, organic produce and homemade ice cream.

On September 29, 2025, Detwiler’s marked a new milestone with the opening of a state-of-the-art, 133,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center at Florida International Tradeport in Palmetto. This major investment strengthens the company’s local supply chain, creates new jobs, and positions Detwiler’s for continued growth while ensuring that prices stay affordable.

Founder Henry Detwiler, Sr. reflected on the journey from small beginnings: “From our start in a small roadside tent to where we are today, it’s been incredible to see how this community has supported us. This distribution center allows us to give back—by creating opportunities for local families and making sure we provide fresh food at a fair price for years to come.”

“This facility represents an important investment into our community,” added Sam Detwiler, President of Detwiler’s Farm Market. “By bringing our operations under one roof, we can operate more efficiently, create more jobs, and pass along even better pricing to our customers. It also gives us the ability to grow and open more stores in the future.”

With this expansion, Detwiler’s continues to deepen its roots in Sarasota while looking ahead to an even brighter future.
