Oysters Rock Hospitality Founders Receive NAACP Manatee Community Service Award for Dive Into Reading

The Giving Coast

John and Amanda Horne, founders of Oysters Rock Hospitality, have been awarded the NAACP Manatee Community Service Award for their leadership and dedication to education through the Dive Into Reading program. The program began as a simple idea to help young readers avoid summer learning loss and has grown substantially, supported by volunteers, mentors, and community partners. Each summer, students build confidence, improve reading skills, and form meaningful connections with mentors who guide and encourage them. This recognition from the NAACP highlights the significant educational impact Dive Into Reading continues to have in classrooms and across the community. The award was presented at the 2025 Freedom Fund Banquet on November 8 at the Manatee Performing Arts Center in Bradenton.
