Academy at Glengary, Inc. to Support Nutrition Program Expansion with Generous $5,000 Grant from Gulf Coast Community Foundation

The Giving Coast

Academy at Glengary, Inc. is set to expand the Nutrition Program at its Sarasota campus with a generous $5,000 grant from Gulf Coast Community Foundation. Funding will ensure that the Academy’s meals remain available to all attendees regardless of their financial situation. The Academy at Glengary serves adults 18+ who live with a serious mental illness and want to pursue mental health recovery and self-sufficiency. Known as members, these adults face many obstacles to achieving optimal nutrition, which can set the stage for diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity as well as decreased life expectancy. To address this reality, the Academy developed a daily breakfast and lunch program to serve natural, made-from-scratch meals to ensure that members have at least one healthy meal a day. The Academy will also offer “to-go” meals for evenings and weekends, especially helpful for those members who lack access to cooking facilities.
