Each year, SRQ Media invites the community to nominate individuals with hearts of giving who have made a significant impact with local nonprofit organizations—from volunteers and board members to individual staff members and donors. This year, attendees were thrilled to be together as we recognized these individuals at our annual Giving Coast and Good Hero Awards luncheon and panel discussion on December 10 at Michael’s on East in Sarasota. In the coming weeks, we are happy to feature each of the ten honorees in our Wednesday Philanthropic edition of SRQ Daily.

Today we are recognizing Sepi Ackerman. Sepi is the Co-founder and President of Holiday House SRQ. Sepi’s nominator says this about her. “I got a chance to help Sepi with the Holiday House SRQ in December 2024. I was a videographer filming little kids walking into a room full of gifts they could pick for their families and even themselves. Seeing their smiles and how happy they were melted my heart. The work Sepi puts into Holiday House is absolutely incredible. She was just off surgery on the day I was there, no one expected her to be there, yet she showed up and personally was setting up gifts at Wilkinson school, still not feeling well, yet full of enthusiasm and desire to help kids who can't afford gifts.” Congratulations, Sepi!
