Little Hands, Big Hearts: CDS First Graders Carry on a Legacy of Giving

RocketKids Article

On Monday, March 30, Hershorin Schiff Community Day School (CDS) first graders hand-delivered 50 care bags across town to reach some of the community's most vulnerable kids and families. The 16 kids who made the delivery assembled the bags with the help of other grades earlier this month during "Mitch-vah Day," CDS's annual day of service held in memory of Mitch Blumenthal, a beloved former CDS Board of Trustees President known for his generous spirit. The bags they assembled included toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, and other hygiene items, along with a handmade calming jar—a glitter-filled sensory tool that kids could use to settle nerves. Jewish Family & Children’s Services of the Suncoast placed the bags from CDS directly into the hands of children and families in need. JFCS of the Suncoast serves children, families, seniors, and veterans across the region. The care bags will be distributed to children currently receiving services through the agency.
