Safe Children Coalition Foundation closes out Youth Shelter Campaign

The Giving Coast

During Safe Children Coalition's Giving Breakfast in late March, SCC leaders announced that the Youth Shelter Campaign - an effort to build a critically-needed new Youth Shelter for homeless and other vulnerable teens - had exceeded its fundraising goal. The campaign has raised nearly $10 million and the final donation ($500,000) that pushed SCC over the finish line was contributed by the SCC Foundation. The new shelter will be located on Sawyer Road in north Sarasota; the exterior construction is nearly complete. SCC leaders expect the facility, which will enable the child welfare organization to serve and protect more area youths, to be operational by the fall of this year.
