Plantation Community Foundation Awards $100,000 Impact Grant to Senior Friendship Centers Venice Campus

The Giving Coast

Feeling safe when arriving for an evening class, dinner, or community event can determine whether an older adult stays engaged or stays home. A new $100,000 Impact Grant from the Plantation Community Foundation will help Senior Friendship Centers improve exterior lighting at its Venice campus, helping create a more comfortable and navigable environment for the seniors it serves. The project will replace and upgrade exterior lighting throughout the property, improving visibility in parking areas, walkways, and building entrances. For older adults, especially those with mobility or vision challenges, well-lit outdoor spaces can play a critical role in reducing the risk of falls and increasing confidence during evening programs and special events.
