The Sarasota Ballet Announces Major Company Appointments for 2026-27 Season

The Sarasota Ballet today announced eight new dancer appointments and two promotions for the 2026–2027 Season. The appointments bring internationally recognized talent and emerging artistry to every level of the Company, led by Misa Kuranaga’s permanent appointment as a Principal dancer after joining the 2025 – 2026 Season as Resident Guest Principal. Andrii Ishchuk, formerly of American Ballet Theatre, and Kaitlyn Casey, formerly of Boston Ballet, also are appointed as Principals. Sumika Fujiwara, formerly with Tulsa Ballet, joins the Company as First Soloist; Federico Coletti, Robert Mack and Owen Watson join the Corps de Ballet; and Annette Darren joins as an Apprentice. Samuel Gest has been promoted to First Soloist, while McKibben Needham advances from The Sarasota Ballet Studio Company to the main Company as an Apprentice.
