Sarasota Memorial is the first hospital in the Tampa Bay region offering a new leadless pacemaker system for certain heart failure patients who cannot be helped by traditional cardiac resynchronization therapy. The WiSE System is an innovative, FDA-approved treatment option that uses a tiny electrode implanted inside the left ventricle to help the heart beat more efficiently—without the traditional pacing lead used for the left side of the heart. SMH’s electrophysiology team performed the first two cases at the Sarasota hospital on Wednesday. A news release with more details is copied below. Attached is a photo of SMH’s electrophysiology team and a medical illustration of the leadless pacemaker system. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.
