Boys and Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties Opens New Club in North Port Following Hurricane Ian

Business

Three and a half years after Hurricane Ian devastated the Gene Matthews Boys & Girls Club in North Port, Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties (BGCSDC) hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, March 31, to celebrate the opening of the new Club on the Steven and Marjolaine Townsend Campus. Project supporters, elected officials, and community leaders gathered to mark this major milestone of rebuilding the Club that has served North Port families for nearly 30 years. The ribbon cutting marks a new chapter for the Steven and Marjolaine Townsend Campus, home of the Gene Matthews Boys & Girls Club, and the many young people and families who rely on the Club as a place to belong, learn, and build great futures.
