For many people, finding a career path takes years—even after college. Kaliya Taylor, however, had a clear vision from a young age. When she was just 14 years old, she already knew she wanted to open a coffee shop of her own.  “She came to me with colored pencils and gel pens and had a whole business plan at age 14,” explains her mom Autumn Stosick. “When she was 20, we got a mobile trailer and put her plan into work, selling coffee and breakfast items throughout Sarasota and Manatee County.” The trailer quickly built a loyal following and became a local favorite. Today, 21-year-old Kaliya and Autumn, who moved to Lakewood Ranch from Maryland a few years ago, continue to serve freshly roasted coffee, specialty drinks, fresh breakfast treats and some lunch items from their brick-and-mortar shop, The Daily Brew Station, in Palmetto, which opened in May. Every day, the shop seems to get busier through word of mouth and TikTok, according to Autumn. “Earlier today, there were some ladies who stopped in on their way to the outlets and found us with our five-star reviews,” she says. “We just keep getting busier. I definitely see us growing and expanding in the future.” Dividing responsibilities is effortless for this mother-daughter duo. Drawing from her previous experience at Starbucks, Kaliya manages the coffee program, using beans sourced from Banyan Coffee Co. She notes that the cinnamon roll latte and s'mores latte are probably the most popular drinks. Autumn handles the food preparation, crafting dishes with fresh eggs, Jersey Bagels and Boar's Head meats and cheeses, as well as her signature mini pancakes, which she enjoys cooking in front of customers. “We try to keep everything in-house and fresh as much as possible,” Kaliya says. “All of our food and drinks are made to order.” Although the shop is small, it offers free Wi-Fi for anyone looking to work from there. Looking ahead, Autumn and Kaliya hope to expand within the next year or two, with plans already in the works to host community fundraisers and local events. SRQ
