Modern Show Has Arrived

Todays News

The Center for Architecture Sarasota will present a two-day modernism event, giving the public an insider's peek into two Siesta Key houses by architectural masters Victor Lundy and Paul Rudolph. Friday's offerings include a walk-through of Lundy's The O’Malley House (1957), which has barely been touched in order to preserve the integrity of Lundy lines, and Rudolph's Revere Quality House (1948), which has been restored by Sarasota architect Guy Peterson.

CFAS will also play host on Friday night for a mid-century-themed cocktail party (complete with on-theme cocktails) where never-before-seen Rudolph interior furnishings from his New York apartment, including a hanging light and a maquette Rudolph copied from friend Pablo Picasso, will be on view. An exclusive preview and presale of 20th century iconic furniture and décor will also be available.

The Center’s renovated building, the historic Barkus Furniture Store, will be transformed on Saturday into a showroom for the best in modern design during this inaugural benefit event. CFAS will host a series of related lectures, talks, tours, a vintage fashion show and a sale of modern furnishings and decorative arts.

Purchase tickets for Friday's events ($55/person for the house tours and $125/person for the cocktail party) at themodernshow.com. Saturday's fashion show at the CFAS building costs $10 while the furniture sale and lectures are free.
