Sarasota institution Pho Cali has a menu packed with noodle bowls and full-bodied soups from the storied streets of Vietnam to fill the belly with aromatic and gentle spices. The sweet and sour soup stands out among the crowd, an undertone of pineapple pervasive throughout, with slices of sweet tomatoes, pineapple, bean sprouts, Vietnamese rhubarb sprouts and a smattering of Asian herbs heightening the flavor profile. Paired with steaming white rice, the zesty, pungent broth is all at once filling and light, healthy and deeply flavorful.
