The Florida Center for Early Childhood’s outside space has been transformed by the Leadership Sarasota County Class of 2020. The 39 professionals participating in the leadership program dedicated their weekends and secured donations to expand the Center’s outdoor play space into a sensory garden. The garden was designed to inspire the theme of ‘Transformation’ and includes caterpillars and butterflies as prominent features throughout. The space includes a new fence, concrete walkway with beautiful landscaping, an irrigation system, fiberglass animals, musical instruments, an herb garden, a calming area, and a hand painted rock river.Kaitlin Yelle, Leadership Sarasota County Class Project Co-Chair said of the project, "“Our class of diverse professionals worked together to design, fundraise, paint, plant and build an incredible sensory garden. It was inspiring to watch everyone work as a team to make a positive impact that will be enjoyed by the children of the Florida Center for many years to come."
