Project 180 to Address Economic and Workforce Development in Upcoming Program

The Giving Coast

Project 180, a Sarasota-based nonprofit organization aimed at successful prisoner re-entry, will host a luncheon lecture on March 7 that explores solutions to labor shortages the region is experiencing. The lecture, “Constructing a New Workforce,” will examine the promise of expanding jail and prison educational opportunities to develop a competent workforce while also reducing the rate of recidivism. Presented by Dr. Craig Miller, a professor at the Pennsylvania College of Technology and expert in prisoner education, the lecture will explore educational programs Miller founded in New York and Pennsylvania, where hands-on classes in technology and business are preparing incarcerated people for success in the workplace and bolstering economic and social stability. “Constructing a New Workforce” will be presented at a luncheon at Michael’s on East at 11 a.m. on March 7.
