New nonstop flights don’t automatically create new visitors. Build it and they will not come; but promote it, now that’s a different story. Visit Sarasota County just earned a statewide Flagler Award from VISIT FLORIDA for a campaign based on this idea to boost nonstop flights to SRQ Airport. The campaign generated 6.2 million impressions, reached more than 1 million households, and produced a 1,062% lift in consideration of flying specifically into SRQ.
