Amy Farrington has been named as the new vice president of Public Policy and Sarasota Tomorrow for the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. Farrington was most recently an executive at ShelterBox USA. Full press release below the fold: The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce has announced Amy Farrington will be assuming the position of Vice President for Public Policy and Sarasota Tomorrow Initiatives in January 2016. Ms. Farrington was most recently the Director, Administration of Donor Relations at ShelterBox USA where she provided organizational oversight of finances, human resources, donor relations and policy. Prior to ShelterBox, she owned the local law firm Tuck Farrington, which provided legal advice and representation in the areas of elections, government, administration, legislation, not for profit governance, contracts and employment. Greater Sarasota Chamber President Steve Queior stated, “We needed a key executive with a record of focused work, strong results, and a high level of commitment. Amy has shown these traits throughout his career, as well as being a high energy team member that has worked with integrity and who has the ability to bring people together and build relationships. Her passion for our community will serve our Chamber and its members very well.” Amy’s prior experience includes serving as Assistant General Counsel and later Director of the Florida Department of State, Division of Elections and as the Director of Government Affairs at the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce. Farrington has an MSA in Public Administration from the University of West Florida and a JD from the University of Florida College of Law. In her new position with The Chamber based in Sarasota, Farrington will work with local and state government officials, several of The Chamber’s councils, and be involved with moving Sarasota Tomorrow Next (community and economic development) projects forward. Referring to her new position, Farrington said, “I am extremely excited to join the team at The Greater Sarasota Chamber. For me, it is a tremendous opportunity to use my experience and skills to serve both the business and the overall community.”
Kevin Cooper Moves from Sarasota Chamber to Gulf Coast Community Foundation
The Gulf Coast Community Foundation announced that Kevin Cooper, now the vice president for Public Policy and Sarasota Tommorrow at The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, will join the foundation as director of Community Investment. He replaces Jon Thaxton, who earlier this week was promoted with Gulf Coast to senior vice president of Community Investment.
“Kevin’s expertise will strengthen Gulf Coast’s ability to drive systemic change,” said Mark Pritchett, president and CEO of Gulf Coast Community Foundation. “With Jon and Kevin working as a team, we can continue to bring the right people together to solve our region’s most pressing issues and leverage Gulf Coast’s community impact.” Cooper has also been a regular columnist with SRQ Daily, publishing a column each month on behalf of the Chamber. |
