A 2016 Sarasota High School graduate has been awarded the Top in Country award for her scores on two different Cambridge AICE exams. Sydney Askins received the award for her performance on the Literature in English exam and the A Level History exam. Askins was one of only two students in the U.S. to achieve the Top in Country Literature in English award. The other student, Dana Buckhoy, also attended a Sarasota County public high school. Askins currently attends the University of Florida; Buckhoy, a 2016 graduate of Booker High, attends Santa Fe College. Both institutions are in Gainesville. During a three-year period of taking Cambridge (AICE) exams, Askins has been awarded Top in Country for five different subjects and Top in World for one exam score.
