The Humane Society of Sarasota County

Incorporated in 1952 as Sarasota’s first nonprofit animal welfare organization, the Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC) has grown to be the area’s premier no-kill shelter. A home is found for every adoptable pet in our care.  We take tremendous pride in being the area’s premier no-kill shelter, and with that comes the responsibility to lead by example. Our mission will always be focused on saving the lives of cats and dogs and enriching human lives along the way. HSSC is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. We rely solely on contributions from individuals, organizations, and corporations. HSSC receives no federal funding, nor are we funded by any national humane organization. HSSC has earned the coveted 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator, America’s premier independent charity evaluator.

Cat Depot

Cat Depot’s mission is to save lives, find loving homes, and provide resources and education to improve the destiny of homeless cats. Adopt: Our goal is to find a good match and loving home for every cat who enters Cat Depot. Rescue: We work daily to rescue abandoned, abused, injured, relinquished, and free roaming cats and kittens. Community Cats/TNVR: Education, food, resources for medical care, and low to no-cost spay/neuter surgeries. Humane Education: Cat Depot provides educational activities promoting awareness and knowledge of cat behavior and care. Our 11,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility is a free-roaming, managed admissions cat adoption and resource center in Sarasota, Florida. Come by for a visit or take our virtual tour. The Cat Care Clinic is open to the public and provides affordable veterinary services for cats and kittens. Revenue from our veterinary clinic helps fund Cat Depot’s rescue and adoption center
